Established in 1986 and part of the Rumukia Farmers Cooperative Society, Gaikundo collaborates with 564 smallholder farmers, each cultivating approximately 0.5 hectares of land. Situated at 1850 meters above sea level, the factory benefits from the rich volcanic soils at the foot of the Aberdare Range, offering views of Mt. Kenya on clear days.
